Africa

My first journey to the African continent was through Morocco in 2016. You can read about that experience here! In 2017 I returned to Africa for a 7 month backpacking excursion that fundamentally changed who I am as a person. I’ve written about that experience in a chapter format as it is more of my personal adventure than advice for a trip you might be planning. I give specific tips like prices, things I’d recommend, and availability of local transit. In between these helpful bits I discuss all of my volunteer work which will probably not be relevant but makes an interesting read. However, below I have some general information about Africa that you can read through without getting invested in my journey.

I had already been traveling for quite awhile before I decided to write a blog. The reason this now exists is because of my Africa trip. Looking back on my voyage it all seems so crazy that I crossed Africa as a female, all on my own. I met other female travelers but they were usually in a group. I met solo travelers but they were always men. If any female out there is considering going to Africa alone, but doesn’t know if it is a good idea, I hope my blog can reassure you that it is very possible. Also, if you have limited funds my blog tries to highlight the ways somebody can do Africa on a budget. I use Workaway as I travel, so if anybody is interested in giving that a try, my blog highlights the benefits as well as the nightmare experiences. All that being said, I had one hell of an adventure and I’m already wondering when I’ll return to that mystical continent.
