Prior to starting my year (+) of travel, I had a list of the top three places I wanted to go in the world: 1- Nepal, 2- Namibia, 3- Colombia. When things were rough at the start of my African journey, especially in Uganda, my main reason for not giving up was that I needed to make it to Namibia.
Did you know it is one of the least densely populated countries (right behind Greenland, Mongolia and Western Sahara)? All of that open space to explore!

Why was I so fascinated with this country that flies under the radar for most people? I watched the David Attenborough documentary series on Africa and the first episode on the Kalahari spoke to me deeply. Namibia, AKA giraffe land, seemed like a magical place.
I started my time in Namibia by volunteering at a game reserve near Oshakati. It was a failed Workaway attempt and you can read about my experience with sexual harassment down below.

After that, things got a lot better as I was lead to my favorite Workaway in Africa and spent five weeks with the most amazing children.
